Default 84 Gas CC - Won't fire/start

I recently aquired an 1984 CC. It was running good about 6 years ago, and has pretty much just sat since. I did the basics (new fuel, new spark plug, new air filter, cleaned linkage, charged a good battery). A buzzer sounds when placed into reverse and the fuel pump sounds and looks like its running properly.

When I turn the ignition to start and press the accelerator pedal, the fuel pump is working, but the motor does not turn over or attempt to start at all. No spark comes down the spark plug wire (tested) and nothing moves at all.

Any basic ideas or "1st things" to look for/at in troublshooting this? Is there a fuse/switch box I should be looking at?

Thanks,
Paul

Check the battery Voltage 12.5 - 13.5 Volts and cables going to the starter if the starter does not turn the engine over U will not have a spark .

Thanks guys for the help, sure enough the battery wasn't holding a good charge from my charger! It fired up and runs great (although the brakes appear to be completely out!). Now time to wander over to the "how to make it faster" forums...

Thanks!

Paul

Who needs brakes???? If it goes TOO fast, I can just jump off!

Looks like it has drum brakes in the rear, and all the linkage is working so I'm guessing the shoes are shot or out of adjustment.. It was used on a farm, so they are probably the originals with no meat left on them!

New shoes are on so it stops now.

Oil light on dash came on, any information on the engine fluid specifications around? Viscosity to use, quantity, etc.?
