Default Club Car Precedent comes out of gear

I have a lifted 2006 club car precedent. Once in a while when i put it into reverse it comes out of gear. If you hild it in place it stays in. Not sure what i have going on. Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Is your shifter cable in a bind? I bent mine up installing my lift kit and had a similar problem. You could remove it and see if it moves in and out freely to eliminate it as a source of the problem.

Might also check the adjustment on the cable to see if it is shifting fully into reverse. Take the cable off the trans and manually shift the trans fully into reverse, and then reattach the cable and see if it moves the same distance.

Took the cable off and found the plastic alignment tube broken, just removed it and it works fine thanks for your help.
