EZ GO project cart
I just picked up an EZ GO project. It is currently 36v. I would like to change it to a 48v, what do i need to do? What is the highest amp controller i can buy?
Is there a diagram for dummies out there. I am fairly handy and well versed with boats, but this cart thing is brand new to me. what i am thinking is id like to redo the wiring, im not sure what is in tha path of the wiring, ie selinoids, controllers, etc.. |

Re: EZ GO project cart
There are lots of threads on this just search for "48 volt conversion". I did one but changed my throttle typoe as well. It is a minimum of replacing batteries and the controller/solenoid to handle 48 volts. After that you can start doing upgrades of other parts if you plan to draw lots of amperage climbing hills etc. Wires and Forward/Reverse switch start to come into play then.

scb2987 - FYI
Mine is a 2004 EZGO TXT. I bought a Kelly controller and swapped over to a 0-5k pot throttle. It would have been easier to just get an Alltrax I guess. Everything else is stock except the controller and batteries. I do about 19-20 mph. |

What do you mean you swapped over to a 0-5k pot throttle? I guess I am missing something. |

Re: EZ GO project cart
Curious as to why you switched? Is there an advantage?

Re: EZ GO project cart
No, no advantage really. I just had already bought the Kelly controller and realized that it would not work with the ITS throttle. ITS is a great throttle system but it is unlike just about anything else made. Many controler companies that are not focused on golf carts don't support it. If I had it to do again I wouls just stick with the ITS throttle. I may go back if I decide to go up to 72 volts or something.
