Question Pioneer 1200 2001 Ignition Coil Replacement

I removed the muffler and took out all the 10mm screws around the shroud. I took off the fan cover and the 3 screws for the blade. I can not for the life of me figure out how to get the shroud out. I need to replace my ignition coil. Please help!!

You lost me there ke5, What blade ? The shroud should wiggle out pretty easily with ALL the bolts off. The top two and right bolts you can just leave loosened since they are slotted. The left and lower need to be removed completely.

The flywheel fan blade. I took the three bolts out of it. Boy I have wiggled and wiggled and the lip on the engine mount seems to be what is stopping me. I just can't get the shroud out of there!

Yeah... It's that stupid "stiffener" bracket on the newer engine pans!

I put in a timing advance key and had the same problem,
I removed the engine to pan mounting bolts, and the 2 nuts from the engine to trans-axle studs,
and turned the engine cockeyed to get the shroud off!

There may be an easier way to do it... but that's how I did it!

That was going to be my next step but I was hoping not to have to do that. Please someone tell me the easy trick to get it out.

I even removed the flywheel side stiffener but that didn't seem to help.

Does anyone have the service manual for a pioneer 1200 2001? I could sure use their explanation of ignition coil replacement.

Well... I looked at my 07 DS Service Manual, and...
It takes you to EXACTLY to where you are... (removing the stiffener bracket) and that's it!

I also looked at my Illustrated Parts list, and it shows the engine pan,
But, it doesn't show the curved, uplift part behind the bracket on the engine pan... again...

IMO, You'll have to do what I had to do! and in all honesty, it's not all that difficult!
I left the wiring, and throttle cable intact, I just pushed the engine towards the passenger side "a bit" to get the shroud off!

Wish I could have been more help!

Hey Lockman1 I really appreciate the insight. We removed the 4 engine bolts and 2 transaxle and slid the engine over a few inches and the fan shroud came right off exposing the coil. It was really not that bad. I did not want to get into specifics but my cart would not turn off and I had concluded it was the wire from the rpm limiter to the coil. In fact after getting the shroud off the wire was borken. So we replaced it and all is good. Total job was about 2 hours. I keep saying we, my son is a mechanical engineer and young. He turned the wrench and I supervised. But it was easy, thanks again for your help and as you can tell I am new to this forum. I got a seriuos fixer upper but its fixed up now. I put about a grand into this cart and I am sure its worh about 5 or 6 now. Take care!
