The driven clutch spring (or power spring) keeps the driven clutch from opening sooner, which provides more torque at lower speeds,
but, at the same time the 9 1/2 hp engine has to rev high enough so it has the power to move it!

Yeah... it's a little confusing, but you'll get it eventually!

So lockman, if i put the factory spring back on, what should i see it do? Will the engine rev up more or less at moderate speed. I get more power at higher rpm's correct?

It could... BUT... first things first!
move the engine back to 9 1/2" center to center, and see if that helps!

Ok. I will. I can't get out to the cart til tomorrow so i'll let you know then. The tires i have on it are 23x10.5 r12. Is that alot of tire for 1 of these?

Ok. I will be able to do that tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. I do have a question for you;@3x10.5x12 tires are pretty big for that size of engine, yes?

It's a good sized tire! (meaning they're just a bit big!) BUT... workable!

Here's my buddies 94 FE290 cart with 23's on it, and it does pretty well up hills!

Thinking outside the box is fine... as long as you don't "over think" it!
Just always try to think... one thing at a time! then... you can work from there!
