The brushed aluminum meter plate is .03 inch or about 1/32 thick. The brushed aluminum plate has several advantages over the early stainless steel plates.

What other advantages other than not blinding you form the sun reflecting off of it?

The stainless steel plate had the disadvantage of showing every fingerprint.
The brushed aluminum plate is easily painted to match your cart.

Excellent change Scotty. I would have preferred a black panel but figured paint wouldn't stick to the stainless. And as you mentioned it shows every finger print. And I think the brushed finish looks better.

Scotty, I don't see an "Add To Cart" button for just the PDS aluminum plate.

We don't sell the plate separate from the meters. The plates are produced as a service to our meter customers. If you currently own one of our meters with a stainless steel plate and would like to change to the aluminum plate shoot me an email.

Something I use with my dremel a lot are diamond cutoff wheels. They don't wear out like the red discs. You can find them dirt cheap on ebay.

I always cut my holes just a tad too small, and finalize with a file. Easier to have to remove a little than to add.

My digital ammeter had an extremely small tolerance, as the overlap on the front was 1/32" or so on each side, giving me only 1/16" to play with.
