33-35 mph
Who here is running a EZGO PDS @33-35mph(or better) WITHOUT high speed gears. If so what kind of motor are you running and how's the range and run-time on it. Thanks guys for any input.

Re: 33-35 mph
Need more info for your goals. Stock tires or bigger is of MAIN importance in obtaining mph (rpm). Voltage plays heavily in the calculations as well.
A cart with stock tires and gears will need a motor that turns ~8500 rpm to run 35 mph. A lifted cart with 23" tires will need a motor to turn ~6300 rpm to obtain the same 35 mph. The 8500 rpm isn't going to happen and even the 6300 is up there on a PDS cart. Gears, IMO, are mandatory in going 35. At least 8:1 or even 6:1 depending on your answers. |

Re: 33-35 mph
With the setup listed in my signature block below, on a level hard surface, my motor maxes out at about 6500 RPM at 42V on 18.3" tires. That gives me about 28MPH. If I lifted the cart and installed 23" tires, I'd get 35.8MPH mathematically, but I doubt if I still be able to spin the motor at 6500RPM with 42V on the taller tires. On the other hand, if I upped the pack to 48V, I'm pretty sure I could.
One of the reasons I'm not likely to go to 48V any time soon is because I'm not going to install taller tires any time soon and I want to keep my motor under the 6500RPM max D&D suggested. As it is, all it takes is an ever so slight downhill grade to exceed it. Since most roads around here have a grade of some kind, I'm considering running a tachometer off the motor speed sensor and setting the shift light at 6500. |

Re: 33-35 mph
Sportcoupe, mine's lifted with 23" tires. I was hoping maybe could do it w/out gears. I was thinking that speed might be pushing the limitations w/ the stock gearing. JohnnieB. I can probably get 28-30 w/ a Bandit upgrade from PQ, the way Robbie talked. Looks like that's the best and cheapest way to go. Yea GWN speed is addictive, that's for sure. I like the quitness of a golf cart vs. the loudness of a 4-wheeler or dirtbike. Been down that road before, years ago.I knew once that dat blame Speedy Mcgreedy bug bit me it was gonna itch real bad.

Re: 33-35 mph
KOJO, you can see my set up in my sig as well, and I do not have high speed gears......I run 27 mph on flat ground.....and I am only at 36v. If I were to make the jump to 48v.....Mathematically, 35.5 mph. in my current configuration....my range is between 25 to 30 miles, depending on the temp.
