Why only 37.5V at full charge??
My volt meter was at 36.3 all day yesterday but the cart ran fine pulling around 4 oversize adults and then up the ramps into the back of the truck with no problem.
So after a full over night charge it reads 37.5V. Batteries are Duracell GC2 75amp. almost 3 years old & full of distilled water. |

Crown Man,
Check the voltage of each individual battery - could be that you have a bad cell in one. Report the voltages for each battery back to the forum so folks can help you troubleshoot. RLW |

No you do not have to disconnect any cables to check the volts of the batteries, hook your meter to the pack and drive the cart and see what the volts drop to, after you check all the batteries

So after a full charge im getting 5v at each battery.
The volt meter on cart reads 37.2v |

I'm assuming this is a 6 battery (x 6 volts) = 36 volt cart. There's either something wrong with the cart meter, your DVM (you ARE using a DVM, aren't you?), or the laws of nature don't apply where you live.
6 x 5V = 30V - it doesn't make sense that you're seeing 5 volts at each battery. 5 volts is completely depleted, dead, kaput. I don't think the cart would move if it only was running on 30V. It's also odd that all 6 batteries are showing 5V - there's usually some variation. If the cart runs well with 4 adults, all day, my guess is there's something screwy going on with your meter(s). Are you sure that the meter you used to measure the voltage on each battery is working OK? If you're using an old analog meter, you might want to head on over to your nearest Lowes or Home Depot (don't use a credit card! ;^) and invest ten bucks in a decent digital volt meter. You'll need to report back the voltages of the batteries to two decimal places. The next step may be to disconnect one side of each battery and get the voltage for each one - could be that something is loading down the batteries. Any chance you have a voltage converter, or other item that could be doing that? Weird... RLW |
