Re: Governor rod adjustment
You just did more than you had to do. The zip tie does the same thing.
If you're tired of being shut down at +/-3900 RPMs, remove the ground strap from the RPM limiter. |

The Eye connector is tied down with a bolt. Remove the bolt, and Eye connector, reinstall the bolt only, and let the connector hang there. (tape up Eye connector to prevent future grounding!) |

Re: Governor rod adjustment
I really want to keep the rev limiter though. Not sure I'm ready for the ramifications of removing it completely... Thanks for the advice...

Re: Governor rod adjustment
Aww come on! The FE series engines will take RPMs much, much higher than the limiter shuts them down at. It's nice to hold it down and keep accelerating! Not to say they won't blow, for any engine will blow up if over-revved. But they are very tough and very durable and eager to rev!

I did it with my FE350...
I've got mine set @ 4400 RPM's in Maint. mode (slightly lower under a load!) I felt the same way about disconnecting it! I feel different about it now though!!! Just be carefull! you will go faster! (none of us here, want ANYBODY to get hurt!) I've got an average GPS of 28.5 MPH Stock! (kinda' scary!) |

Re: Governor rod adjustment
If you decide to keep your limiter intact...
adjust your governor lower so it does'nt bounce off of the limiter!!! THAT will cause engine damage! Last edited by lockman1; 09-11-2007 at 09:14 PM.. |

Re: Governor rod adjustment
Ok, so maybe I'm convinced. I like performance from any vehicle, so maybe I will give it a try tomorrow. I'm a bit conservative when it comes to possible engine damage, so I'm sure I'll develop an ear for when it's reving too high. Is there a tach available for these things? Are they necessary?

Re: Governor rod adjustment
I used my car tach/dwell meter to start with... at least I knew where I was at!

Re: Governor rod adjustment
I run Mobil 1 in everything from my lawn mower to my C6 Corvette, and my CRX race car. Just did the first oil change on the cart and used Mobil 1. I found out my Honda CRX Si oil filter will fit the cart... That was good to know!
Thanks for all the advice folks. This forum appears to be much more informative than the other one... |
