I just put a voltage reducer on our cart ( 48 to 12V) and when I hook the battery back up, I also get a good spark. I don't have the output connected to anything yet. I assume it is drawing regarless. Scared to try it again.

There is nothing turned to on with your cart?

If you draw an arc either connecting or disconnecting any circuit it means there is a load drawing current. There is no other way for that to happen.

The voltage reducer will draw a little voltage and so it will give a small spark each tiome it is connected. No harm done.

Thanks Scotty. I figured as much. I think I will add and on/off switch for that reducer just so I can isolate it during charges etc. Hey, why don't I load up the Precedent and bring it over for some motor removal help! Ummmmmm, should be there about next Wed.
