Is there a thermal cutout in the PowerWise charger?

It seems to me that on really warm days, like we get here in the summer, the charger does get very warm and I think it shuts down to cool off a bit. I did put a fan along side of it on a day it was on/off/on a couple times, and it no longer cut off.

I have two of those chargers that I have used in very hot weather, mid-90s, and I have never had that issue. I have also taken both apart to replace the relays and worn wires and I never noticed any funky thermo sensors.

Believe me, I am not an expert on these carts. I am sure a real expert will chime in soon enough. I am just giving one guy's experience.

there are no thermal cutouts
there is vents to let the heat out that comes off the transformer

OK great. Since it's in the garage, and it is generally warm, with no breeze, I may put a muffin (115vac), on it (connected between the neutral, and the hot coming off the relay). Won't hurt it running a bit cooler.....

i charge 4 carts in my work shop at over 100 degrees with no fan
it has also gotten down to 29 degrees over night

Avoid charging much over 100º. Batteries heat up when charging and too much heat can damage them.

OK, I know y'all sorta said the charger can run hot. But after many years with GE, in the computer industry, we said "heat is not your friend". I have the charger on a shelf, and there is not a lot of circulating air available there. The result is that it gets hot. So I added a fan..... now regardless of how long its on, it is only slighty warm. The fan is connectd to the relay so that it only comes on when the charger is on.

It makes me feel better!!!!!
