97 txt broken axle
Hey, guys. My kids managed to snap an axle off of our ez go. My problem is after removing the snap ring, I can't grab onto the shaft to remove it. Anyone have a good trick to remove it without dropping the rear end? Thanks in advance!

Re: 97 txt broken axle
you could remove the diff cover and wedge a prybar in the other end of the axle shaft to wedge it out a little.

Re: 97 txt broken axle
Ok thanks, that's what I was thinking. If I remove the cover, will I be able to see the axle on that end? Also, does the cover have a gasket or will I need to use a seal to put it back on?

Re: 97 txt broken axle
We always used RTV silicone gasket. Remember to fill the pan with 30wt motor oil before re-installing.

Re: 97 txt broken axle
Get a factory axle, or youll have another broken axle.
As far as pulling it out, Ive had great success with being able to grab the end with a pair of vise grips. |

Re: 97 txt broken axle
I have used a drill and bit. drill a hole in the axle, then use a self tapping screw. That has worked for me.
Maybe not the way a pro would do it, but it saves dropping the pan. Sonny |
