Default EZGO 36v noise is debris inside armature. Has anyone disassembled?

I’ve disassembled my 36v motor to clean and replace the bearing. I noticed that the armature has what sounds like gravel in it. There is no obvious way to remove the shaft or disassemble the armature itself. Has anyone encountered this and solved?

The noise is many broken up varnish chips flying around inside the armature. The armature wires are covered in varnish at the factory to protect and insulate. Over time and with perhaps too much heat they’ve broken loose. I’ve not found a way to open the armature and remove them so i will need to send this one to an electrical motor shop. Just fyi in case others have some strange engine noise.

Have a motor shop test the armature for winding shorts.
They should have a way to test it.

The centrifugal force as the motor spins will keep the chips from being noisy I would think.

You can't open an armature.

You can't open an armature - unless you are a motor rebuild shop. For sure not a job that can be done by the home-gamer.

Yea, disassembling an armature requires removing the windings first, then taking it apart. It's better to just buy a replacement armature or motor. It'll certainly cost less than paying a motor shop to rebuild yours. That is usually only done when it's a rare or unique motor.
