Re: How to clean electronics
One of the sparky guys is bound to know better than me, but I would disconnect all the electricals from the battery pack and do a liberal douse with a name brand electrical contact cleaner aerosol. That is safe for most electronics.

Re: How to clean electronics
Yes everything is disconnected and off the frame i saw that wd40 makes an electrical contact cleaner. Gonna try that and see but just wanted to see if anyone has done this before and can give a few pointers

Re: How to clean electronics
I hose it down with brake cleaner or electronics cleaner. Then carefully add a few drops of aerosol lube. Non flammable is preferred (Zep preserve is like wd40, but non flammable). I actually usually don't even worry about a little dust, it's just everywhere in the desert anyway.

Re: How to clean electronics
Use CRC electronic cleaner. Find it in the auto parts store like O'Reilly. Don't use WD40. It's flammable. Use an old toothbrush for the difficult places.

Re: How to clean electronics
I used to use break cleaner for cleaning up some electronics but no more.
CRC is great for electronics, connectors and motors. Break clean for other stuff. |

Re: How to clean electronics
disconnect all power...CRC, or electronic contact cleaner ONLY.....
NO on brake cleaner... most brands will "attack" plastics used as insulators, another NO is the sometimes caustic "outgas" that can happen under certain conditions. Just my professional $ 0.02 ... |

Re: How to clean electronics
Yep, brake cleaner dries out and cracks stuff. Keep away from rubber, plastic etc.
Some of the newer brake cleaners claim they won't do this but I don't believe it. |
