Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
I have a 2006 EZ GO Workhorse MPT 48v. I just put new batteries in it and plugged by Delta Qui Q charger on it. It flashes twice which means voltage is too low to charge. I tested the batteries and they read 28v.
What can I do to get the batteries to read higher? Obviously charge them, but how if the current charger will not bring it up to speed??? |

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
first lets measure each battery individual lots of time you will have a loose connection which will cause the low voltage so each battery should sum up to the 28 volts
do you 6 batteries or 8? if you have 8 then you can charge each battery with a 6 volt charger or two at a time with a 12 volt charger do you still have the old batteries you need to add voltage enough to let the charger start then you can remove the external voltage and the charger will continue |

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
I have 8 6v batteries and do not have the old batteries. I would of thought putting new batteries in would be enough to charge it. I will check each battery tomorrow, but can't believe brand new batteries are not showing a higher voltage.

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
is it possible that maybe you have a loose connection some where
i assume that you replaced one battery at a time or took a picture and made sure that you wired it back up correctly pictures will help |

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
All batteries read 2.1 on a 6v battery and now the pack reads 31v. All wires are tight and they are connected positive to negative all through the pack.

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
Somehow you are missing three batteries worth of voltage.
Either three are seriously bad or there is a connection problem with the chain. Do all batteries read 6.3V individually? If so then start connecting them up one by one and check pack voltage as you go. You may have bad cable connection in a crimp. |

They all read 2.1 from some reason. That’s what baffles me. They are brand new batteries

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
What kind of batteries are these and what are the date codes?
And you are saying 2.1V reading across the posts, not each cell correct? If so I would talk to the supplier. That seems way to low unless they have been on shelf for a long time. |

Re: Charger issue 2006 Workhorse
Before you call, put a fresh battery in your multi-meter....the meter will give goofy readings if the battery is low.
2.1v should be in each cell (times 3) not each battery. Check your cable routes. 8/6v should be connected something like the diagram attached. |
