Default What are my options?

So I have been diagnosing an issue with my cart with the help of BobBoyce since the weekend and I think I have found the issue. I hit a large bump and lost all throttle control. I have found a corroded and broken connection on one of the cables connecting the motor to the controller.

The cables appear to be hardwired into the motor. Can they be replaced without replacing the motor?

If not what are my motor replacement options?

Thanks

Andy

On a 3 phase motor, the leads are typically brazed or silver soldered to the winding coils, then sleaved and varnished with formvar. A motor rewind shop can likely do the repair, but these days they tend to just replace motors rather than repair them. The RXV motor is not a low cost motor. I've seen some on eBay at times. E-Z-GO is quite proud of them. (read as expensive)

Figures. Are there upgrade options? Like Navitas?

Sure, if you have lots of money to spend. I would look around for an alternative before spending that much. Check eBay. There used to be a couple of RXV motors for well under $1000. Heck, you may get lucky and find an RXV carcass for a few hundred $ that has a motor on it. Call around the cart shops within a few hundred miles. I travelled the entire state of NC after a severe flood and uncovered quite a few options, but none I was willing to pay the price for. I was not wanting to wait until after the insurance companies had done their thing and there was a surplus of flood carts available. The 2008 RXV I use now was a $500 flood card from west of New Orleans.

Bob is the expert, so I defer to him. However, I can tell you what I learned rebuilding my 2010 RXV. I had my motor out of the cart to replace the bearing encoder. EZGO doesn’t run them anywhere close to what they’re capable of (based on cleaning off the placard that listed the motor specs)

A quick google search had a couple of motors available via eBay for $700.

The reference to Navitas confuses me a bit. I know them for motor controllers. Your break is clearly where the wiring enters the motor.

I could be unaware of something, but I think your still going to have to deal with the motor before any upgrades.
