Solenoid clicking to open position while pedal still pushed
2008 club car ds is having issues with solenoid loosing continuity after a few seconds of the pedal being pushed. Bench tested the solenoid and found solenoid to be good. What could cause the solenoid to click open while pedal is still down?

Re: Solenoid clicking to open position while pedal still pushed
Replace the MCOR switch today and solenoid still clicking open with pedal down. I tested the new MCOR and it is working correctly. What else can I test that could cause this?

Re: Solenoid clicking to open position while pedal still pushed
Then you either have a bad main contactor (solenoid) or you are losing an input permissive (+ or -) to the activation coil. Hook up two DVM's to the solenoid small wires on the activation coil. The light blue is the 48+ input (Red probe here and Black probe to Main Pack Neg) and the blue w/white stripe is the 48- input (Black probe here and Red probe to Main Pack Pos). Meaning if you have both of these on and ride off then lose the activation you can look at one of the two DVM's and see if you lost one of the inputs needed for sustained activation (closure). If you still have them both and the contactor (main solenoid) opens, then you will know it has failed (due to a weak or open coil) and needs to be replaced.

Does the resistor need to be removed to perform this test?

Re: Solenoid clicking to open position while pedal still pushed
Could be MAIN DROPOUT. Earlier DS cars were missing a diode in the wire harness. They would randomly drop out for no apparent reason. Later DS cars such as yours actually incorporated the diode in the wire harness, but if it fails in the closed position you have the same issue as a car that doesn't have a diode at all. I've been able to remedy this by installing the main dropout harness rather than cutting the old diode out of the harness and soldering another one in. The main dropout harness is a simple installation that'll take you about 15 seconds. Un-plug the tow/run switch and install the small harness in line between the two plugs from the tow/run switch.
