Default Voltage Reducer Ground

Hi all. I bought a voltage reducer with grounding bus bar combo from carts unlimited. Question... do I ground the bus bar to the main neg on the battery pack or do I ground it all to the black neg coming out of the controller box?

The converters 36/48v side and 12v side share common ground, so the negative buss bar can be connected to either the pack main negative terminal, or to the controller B- terminal, whichever is easier/closer for you.

If your cart has a working OBC, all negatives must go to Controller B- (some models have a negative connection block near Controller B-).

Battery B- and controller B- are opposite ends of the same cable. Electrically these are the same connection point.
A benefit of connecting to controller B- is the lack of corrosion present at the battery end of the cable.

Another point, and was Sergio's, is that all accessories should go to the controller B- because on all OBC carts the Hall sensor can only account for energy units it actually has pass through it. So if you hook directly to the Negative on the Battery you bypass the Hall sensor in the OBC and it will not replenish the energy used by your reducer/accessories.....

Thanks Scotty for the explanation. I bought your blue 30 amp kit. I was going to mount this in the stock location up front behind the suspension but the holes don’t line up. I can’t fit a drill in either. Any suggestions on mounting this unit?

I’m not sure what cart you have, but this is my 2016 precedent

Like MadAktion, if you want to mount something to somewhere and the holes don't line up then make a bracket, either like his or from another piece of plate and drill holes in the bracket to mount the reducer and other holes that are at the right distance to bolt to the plate behind the suspension. Then bolt the reducer to the bracket and the bracket to the cart.
