Default Good or Bad OBC question

I have a question about the OBC. My question if I run a big wire around the OBC and still keep the OEM wire through the OBC will this hurt me or will it help me with current flow?

Will the OEM wire still let the OBC work while the big wire that goes around the OBC help with current?

Not sure which cart you have but everything I have read from the Club Car manual for my ‘96 48V DS Regen I is that the OBC basically “keeps track” of how much current you use while running the cart, and then controls the charger on how much current it needs to re-supply during the next charge. This may not apply to your cart, but if I were to run a parallel negative cable around the computer on mine I think it would cause issues with the charger providing a full charge. I could be wrong - that’s just how the manual described it.

There can only be one cable because All current has to go through the OBC. Running any wire around the OBC means it can’t properly measure the current being used, and it will not charge properly.

4ga wires fit through the OBC just fine. Most 2ga wires will fit if you use some sort of lube/spray on them.

Another option is to install a stud through the OBC and bolt shorter cables to each side of the stud.
