Default Motor will not slide off of rear end splines

I’ve been messing with this since Friday. The motor has an internal short. When I tried to remove it, it would not slide off the splines. I’ve tried everything I can think of. After wrenching on it, The motor casing slipped off of the internals and they won’t budge.

I’ve hit the splines with WD40 and even lightly heated it. Any thoughts? The only thing left is the internals.

Had a similar situation last week on a 1989 cart, original motor been on for 30 years Wasn't going to budge. We quickly got the the same point. You have 2 options. Huge NOTE = do not pry against the differential housing, it will break and repair is extensive. So this is NOT an option.

1. Take the rear end out of the cart and keep dropping the whole rearend on the one axle waiting for the motor to pop off.... it will eventually. Watch your toes
2. We used a a long piece of steel about .250 x 1.50 and a sledge hammer. I was less interested in saving the motor than removing the rear end. In a few minutes we beat the motor off the shaft with the square stock and the hammer. I think even a 1/2 pipe would work... note we did destroy the old motor but we were not interested in saving it... and we did not want to RnR the rear end.

Rear end is now out. I’ve dropped at least 10 times and I had to come in and take a break. Sprayed it again with WD40. I’m hoping gravity will help it run down into the splines while I recover.

I stood on a cement platform and dropped it from about 4ft from the bottom of the axle to the cement floor. It really needs a solid drop. Took me 2 tries

I’ve tried the drop on two different carts. But they didn’t budge. I held it about 4 feet up and dropped it a couple dozen times. Some of them just don’t come off. Note, both were salt water flood carts.

Let it soak in some PB BLASTER overnight. Might help do it.
