2006 club car ds, motor problem
My cart has been acting up for a few months. So I was going to start with the speed or motor magnet. For some idiot reason I removed the two screws beside the plastic part that holds the magnet in. Now I can’t get them to catch to anything inside the motor. What can I do? What did they hold on the inside, must I remove motor?

That is a pain, you usually have to remove the endbell off the motor to get it back on, but I have gotten it to go by using a small awl (small ice pick) and placed it in one hole as an alignment and then played with the second screw till it grabbed. It is tedious for sure but can be done.

Can’t get it would help if I had a diagram. Screws go in and don’t touch nothing

Soak them down with penetrating oil over night. Then hit them solidly on the head with a bal-peen hammer before you try again.

Re: 2006 club car ds, motor problem
Ok I will try again, but can I attach whatever the two screws hold after removing the end plate?

Re: 2006 club car ds, motor problem
Those two screws that you removed hold the bearing retainer in place. You're not the first one to remove them when changing the magnet, it's an easy mistake to make. You might get lucky and can pop the end cap off and get things back in place, but I've heard some members have had to take the entire motor apart to get things back together.
Side note, you and I joined this place on the very same day back in '09. |

Re: 2006 club car ds, motor problem
Look at this youtube video and around the 2:40 minute mark You'll see what you have to do...You have to pull the motor to do it and instead of the way it is done in the video you could get a screw about 2" long to hold the retainer up against the end cap while you install one of the the short screws then you can install the other screw.....8/32 is the screw size...
