Question, motor on my 48v DS
I`m currently running a Plum Quick bandit on my 48V DS. I have the opportunity to buy a 36v resistor cart really cheap. Would it be any benefit to me to swap over my bandit and replace it with a stock 36V motor? Robby @ Pum quick said 20% gain using a bandit. The math says 33% if I switch over to a 36V motor.

Re: Question, motor on my 48v DS
You will have to do the math based on what you have now but get the info on the stock motor first. My motor is the GE 2.97HP and only turns 2850rpm and even at 1.33x that I have to imagine it’s not better than the bandit upgrade. My neighbors cart is either a year newer or older than mine with the 2.5HP GE motor and his turns 3300rpm both of these are stock motors from late 80s early 90s resistor carts.

Waiting on motor info today. It is an early 90s resistor cart that he is parting out. With my stock 18” tires I get about 20mph with the bandit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Question, motor on my 48v DS
Kind of apples to oranges here, but I think a standard 48v motor is still better than a 36v running 48.
If you're comparing power output or speed of a 36v run on 48 compared to a 48v Bandit, I think the Bandit will win as that was probably a 48v motor to begin with. A 48v motor re-wound to get 20% more power should still have more power than a 36v motor running 48v. |

Re: Question, motor on my 48v DS
a guy contacted me, said he was wondering the same and said the bandit is much better than running a 36v motor on 48v.

Re: Question, motor on my 48v DS
At your current 20mph you are probably hitting around 4500rpm on that bandit motor and as far as speed goes that 36v motor would need to be rated for about 3400rpm (@36v) to see the same speed of the bandit assuming you can get enough torque to get the full 1.33 increase out of it with the 48v's.
