Help identifying drive system
Just went and looked at a 1996 Club Car ds. It’s 48 volt ( 8 6 volt batteries) forward and reverse toggle switch. It has the Curtis controller 1510a-5251. Just wondering what I’m looking at. Only reason I’m holding out on buying is it needs more speed.
Thanks |

Re: Help identifying drive system
That's an IQ (sepex) cart, much newer than a '96. What's the vehicle serial number (under the dash)? These carts can be sped up cheaply and easily with a high speed magnet.

It was covered by a custom dash. Couldn’t get to it. That’s what I was thinking though. He says it a 96 so I don’t know.

Thanks for the reply. Probably gonna go ahead and buy it. I’ll be replacing some stuff anyway. Gotta be a 25 mph cruiser!!

Re: Help identifying drive system
Doesnt matter what year the frame is, theyre basicaly all the same and I'm sure with all the other flash goodies on it the drive system was upgraded at some point.
Good news is an Alltrax XCT controller for the IQ system will be an easy bolt-in upgrade and get you near that 25mph range. |

Re: Help identifying drive system
Ended up buying the cart. It is a 1996 model. With the controller and stuff that is already been upgraded will it still be possible to plug in a Alltrax or Navitas and get the speeds I’m after? What else should I look for that’s been done?
Thanks |

Re: Help identifying drive system
Yeah they already put an IQ harness in it, so any Alltrax or Navitas controller for an IQ Club car will bolt right in place of the Curtis controller and open up that extra speed.
If you just want 25mph a controller upgrade is quick and easy. If you wanna do 25 up hill you’ll need a motor upgrade too. If you wanna go walls to the ball the Navitas Ac conversion kit will get you well into the mid 30s with speed to spare. But you’re gonna want to get new batteries as well to feed it. |
