Default Re: Alltrax stock motor max RPM

Your are on the right track, the resistor cart would definitely create a "limit" on the current during partial throttle since there was a resistor inline.

The Controller "pulses" 100% power to the Motor during partial throttle and it does not limit the current during those pulses.

As You know stalling a motor like placing the cart against a tree will cause the motor to burn because without rotation the motor coils offer very low resistance and it will consume virtually all current available.

When accelerating the motor will also consume as much power as it can as the motor RPM increases, regardless if it can only convert a small portion of the current into rotation.

By placing a reasonable limit on how much power it has access too, You will keep the battery voltage from dropping without loosing any noticeable performance.

Since there are lots of variables like controller, motor, tires, batteries, etc, You need to try a few different "Max battery Current" settings to find the sweet spot for your cart.

On mine I added the vglide bypass as well for full throttle and everything ran through a secondary 200amp solenoid but perhaps that was the limiting factor. But pedal at 100% throttle the controller setup has a much longer recovery than the analog cart with power running straight to the motor. I assume this is normal though as when fist installed the voltage drop using the controller was more than the analog at full throttle.

Definitely gonna play with it. Probably loses a hair of acceleration at the low end but will get up to top speed much faster if I can keep an extra 1/2-1V off the initial voltage drop.

Thanks for the help @Sergio. Breaking out the lap top now.
