Should the yellow wire from the reducer be connected to the 2g yellow wire of the controller? I believe this carries a negative to the battery, correct? Could this somehow be responsible for the grounding issue?
The 48V positive should come from the +ve of the 1st battery and preferably have an inline fuse as close to the battery as possible (see my picture). The 48V negative should be connected to the B- of the controller (on the Precedent there is a black cable with a yellow bullet connector lying behind the batteries and this connects to B-). The reason for connecting there instead of to the batteries is that then the OBC will see what is being taken by the accessories and will control the charger properly to put that energy back into the batteries.

The +12V from the reducer should preferable go to a fused distributor so that each accessory is fused. The -12V goes to a negative buss so that all the accessory negatives can connect back to that buss (see the picture).

All accessories should have a dedicated negative wire going back to the negative buss. Nothing should be connected to the chassis because the chassis in a cart is not used like a ground in a vehicle.

Default Re: 1996 48v Club Car Voltage on Frame

Help!!! I finally got around to placing the negative end of the reducer to the B- of the controller. I ran a few hundred yards and went to place cart on truck. As I aligned the cart, it does on me. The solenoid went quiet and does not click.

Using the forums, I tested the solenoid. It appears to be dead. I did a jumper test on it and the cart went. Is this a coincidence or did I do something when I switch the negative to the B-? I don’t know what is going on. But it now appears I have a bad solenoid. It is a 400a solenoid from ScottyB. It has worked perfect up until today. Is there additional troubleshootOmg I can do?
