When I shorted mine I didn’t have a spark but I believe your supposed to short the negative small terminal to b- and this just made the solenoid activate.

What year/type cart?
Do you have a pic of the solenoid?
For an IQ cart, power would go to the solenoid small + terminal from the Key switch, thru the contact activation coil, out the small - terminal to the controller where it will get grounded at the appropriate time.
The activation coil will limit current draw to below 3A.
Maybe the activation coil is shorted, what is the resistance across the solenoid small terminals?

It’s an 03 DS IQ cart. I just tested it and there’s no continuity between the 2 small posts at all.

It means the diode is installed backwards.

Make sure the Tow/Run switch pink wire power is on the Battery side of the Solenoid.

If it is You may need to post some pictures for better reference of what you have.
Ok here are some pictures. There is a pink wire and red wire connected to the tow/run switch.

The pink wire seems to go into the harness but connect to a black plastic module of some sort. It also seems to be spliced with another pink wire and a white wire going into the harness.

Pictures are below

It is hard to see what you have connected to the Solenoid big posts.

Follow the pack positive battery cable to the Solenoid.

The post that cable connects to should also have:
  1. The power wire that feeds the Tow/Run switch.
  2. The "banded" side of the Regen diode.

The other big post should only have the other side of the Regen diode and a single cable that goes to Controller B+, no other wires.

Yes I have the Regen Diode (banded side), the Battery Positive cable and a red wire which goes to the tow/run switch (it connects to the spade connect towards the rear of the cart). There is another yellow wire shown but it was on the stock cable and doesn't go anywhere.

The other side I have a 2ga wire going to B+ and the other side of the diode that is all connected there.

The other wire going to the tow/run switch (pink wire) is what I was showing/following in the pictures. It seems to go to a fuse box and then goes into the controller harness I think...

It looks like you have two heavy Red cables crimped together and an extra Yellow cable on that post.

Is the other Red cable also not used?

Time to connect the laptop to the Controller and see if there are any errors.

The heavy red cable was part of the stock cable and I am reusing it...it has a spade connector on it and joined to the red wire going to runtow switch.

I need to get a usb cable so I can connect to it and will let you know

Actually I found a old printer cable and hooked it up but not seeing any errors jump out. Only thing I noticed is the hpd satisfied keeps switching from true/false just sitting here. Pushing down the throttle shoes the % correctly.

What else should I be looking for?
