Default Oil drip from rear passenger brake drum help

I have a '09 Electric Precedent. It has a slow drip of oil from the right rear brake drum. I'm assuming the oil is coming all the way from the diff. Anyone know what/which (seal??) could be failing? I'd like to order parts and have a clue of what I'm doing before I start pulling parts. Thanks!

I’ve replaced those seals before. Its been a while but its not super difficult. They’re located in the axle tube. Just remember the order of the parts you remove to get to it. You might as well replace the axle bearings while you’re in there. I think the most aggravating part was removing the snap rings because my snap ring pliers were barely long enough to reach it. Drain the fluid first. Refill with 5-w30 synthetic engine oil is what i used.

Is the seal at the diff where the axle housing is bolted to it?

The seal is right behind the axle bearing. If you pull the wheel and brake drum off look at the axle were it goes into the axle housing there is the snap ring that SEHunter was talking about. Remove snap ring (You will need a good set of snap ring pliers) axle will side out. Seal will be up in the axle housing.

I’m in involved with this seal replacement. Snap ring is out, but axle will not slide out. Is there a method to remove? Spent half hour trying to use a flathead and a bushing pry bar. Thoughts ?

The bearing is seized in the axle tube. Try using a hammer to hit around the rear of the axle flange and see if it starts moving. You might need to attach a slide hammer to the axle to free it up. If you don’t have one, you can possibly rig up something that works similar to get the bearing to move.

You can rent or "borrow" most any specialty tool you need from any of the name brand auto parts stores.
Pretty much like you pay a deposit for how much it is to buy and they refund it when you return it.
Ron White says, and I quote, "that's a handy piece of information to have right there!!!"
