Default Removing Automatic Watering

After doing some reading, I decided to remove the automatic watering device on my 2013 Precedent 48 volt cart.

Google is absolutely useless. I search for "remove automatic battery waterer" and all it gives me is installations.

The battery caps are all part of a larger plastic piece where they all snap in together and the watering device snaps into a hole in the middle of the bar that connects all 4 caps.

When I pulled it out, I'm now left with a hole.. Do I need to plug that hole or buy new caps all together?

I've never seen an automatic watering system before. The people who designed it put the o-rings on the hose fitting so its just a plastic hole now.

Thought of cleaning it up and filling it with silicone or something compatible with sulfuric acid.. maybe epoxy or something.

The battery caps need holes to vent the gasses produced during charging so they can't be closed. If you can epoxy the top holes and still have the normal vent holes, that would work. But I'm not sure how those vent.

Check with Batteries Plus, Sam's Club, Costco or Sears, anyone who sells golf cart batteries. You may get lucky.

That's what I'm worried about.. But the fitting that goes into those holes, which has two o-rings, morphs into a "T" which has the rubber hoses that connect the 6 batteries together, which then ends in the fitting to hook up a water source.
I don't see a vent anywhere in that little fitting or the hose.. so it must be somewhere else.

Maybe I'll take one of the cap assemblies off, wash it really good, then blow on it to simulate the battery gassing and see if I can figure out where the vent is.

I just don't want crap getting in there or acid splashing out as I drive.

Good luck and let us know what you learn about them. I'm sure others here will want to remove the automatic watering sections.

Seems to me that those remaining caps on each cell have some holes in them. I don't think they would bother with making those decorative touches and I cannot imagine that the venting would all be done back through the hoses when attached. I think that would lead to a build up of unwanted gasses in the system when it's attached. Hopefully those caps do vent through those holes like a normal battery cap.

They do vent through the hoses.
They do build up gases in the hoses.
It is somewhat common for watering systems to cause chain reaction explosions that blow the cases apart on all of the connected batteries.

You will need to totally replace the caps with normal vented caps or else the cells will not vent properly.

You're saying there's a vent hole in the hose system somewhere? Where?
