Max jack height?
Newbie post... Soon to perform a lift install on my 2021 Onward electric FLA (first time working on a cart suspension and wheels) and have a few questions I'm hoping all your experience might answer?
- I need to get a lot of clearance to install a 6" lift along with 23" tires. Is there a point where you might see batteries leaking through vent covers due to the extreme angle from front to back when the front is raised on jack and stands while the rear end is still on the ground? - Don't know if this is safety-acceptable, but could I park the rear on ramps (7" w/4000lb rating) then lift the front to put on jack stands? That would cause much less of an angle from front to back as both ends would have elevation but sounds iffy from a safety standpoint. Thank you for your input; BGW is a great place to be! -John- |

Your lifting procedure sounds fine. The batteries should not leak at an angle going up the ramps. I do it all the time. The only time it may leak is if the cells are overfilled with electrolyte/ distilled water high into the level "eye" well. Don't remove any if it is too high, just keep watching it. You shouldn't have any problems. |

Re: Max jack height?
You can usually tip a battery about 40-45° before any liquid starts coming out, even if it is filled to the max. The cap design also usually has some impediment to liquid getting out.
If you tip the cart over on its side, then I would worry. A floor jack will never get enough angle to make liquid come out of the battery unless it’s already overflowing. |

Re: Max jack height?
Thank you for your help and input gentlemen; much appreciated. I feel more comfortable to safely accomplish this small project. I will use the ramps for the rear end and put jack stands on the frame at the front. My jack stands are 6 ton and really sturdy so I anticipate no issues.
I will post some photos when completed. Thanks again. I look forward to paying this kind of experience forward to others on BGW if needed. -John- |
