I've seen voltage regulators do that too. Some fail and no longer work and have also seen where they put out too much charge and cook the battery - Go figure?

Ok I've finally got around to charging the battery and testing with a voltmeter
and my findings are.

battery 12.0v
hooked up 11.9v
half throttle 11.5v
wot 11.6v

Would that make it a Voltage Regulator thats draining the battery?

Still 2 possibilities
1. the regulator has failed
2. the generator has failed

Yup - But I would say it is most likely the voltage regulator...

9 out of 10 times with those readings at the shop it will be the VR!

My 99 workhorse had the same problem. The guys on here said voltage regulator. I put one on. 11.8 volts before, 14.4 volts after. Problem solved. Thanks again!

Very rarely will it be the starter in this case. Order up a voltage regulator and I'll bet that fixes it
