36 volt motor to a 48 volt cart

Whats the deal with this ? Does it give more power and will it last, I have a 48 volt club car and am not happy with the power.

If you want to know the truth ! YEAH BABY IT ROCKS!!!!!!!! I am soon to be posting about such a swap and will give you the big thumbs up DO IT! You won't regret it. As for how long it will last IDK YET. 2Weeks so far so good.My controller seems to be the limiting factor on my cart now and am in the market to get a 400amp controller to se what it does with it.

Sounds good. Is it a simple bolt on or is there something else that needs to be done? Also I had a gas club car and lifted it and it killed the power pulling hills what will happen if I lift the electric cart? Thanks for the info in advance I always know I can get the low down here.

The driven clutch can be machined to help on the gasser... and yeah 36v motors on 48v are the poor boy's hotrod

Is it a series cart? If so you need only to disconnect the batts, then disconnect the motor wireing being careful to hold the bottom nut while you loosen the top nut so you don't break the brushes that are on the inside that you don't see. then there are four bolts that hold the motor to the transaxle housing take them loose and out. Then the tugging and pulling begins. Rubber mallet comes in handy sometimes and this may be one of those times cause they can be stubborn. The motor is about forty pounds so some precaution shold be taken to not drop it on yourself or the floor. The new motor is installed in just the opposite way.Put a little synthetic marine grease or some axle grease on the splines of the trans axle upon installation of the new motor. Hope this helps and If you do it post back your results

Interesting side effect is in reverse. Lets just say there is one now.

Mine was such a slug i think snails were faster.

I just sold an Ezgo Txt with 48v in it and it spun donuts on 22 inch tires .......
