Default How many amps does the Solenoid have to be rated for?

I have the Logisystems 480 amp controller. I have a 200 amp 48volt solenoid. Is there any way that the solenoid is under rated. I was just curious if a larger solenoid would be beneficial. Can someone explain the proper way to size a solenoid to a controller?

Thanks,

David J.

ole i really don't know. mine is a 36v white h.d. i think it is rated at 200 amps and then much more momentarily. i have not had a problem since i only push it hard for a short time. i guess if you were climbing big stuff a lot, then you might want something bigger.

The terrain around my house is pretty hilly. I am running stock tires and whhels at the moment, but thought I would have more torque going up the hills. It probably slows to about 8 or 9 mph going up the hills. They are long gradual slope hills. It probably runs about 14 or 15 on flat land. It is hard for me to get a flat land spped due to the hilly terrain where I live. I am heading to my dad's in the morning for some more hide and go seek on golf carts and ATVs. The land is flat by his house so I will get a speed on a fresh charge and let ya'll know what it runs on flat land.
