Whats needed for a 36v to 48v conversion
I posted earlier about some problems I have run into, but in this thread I need someone to tell me what all needs to be done. I have replaced the solenoid to HD 48v. What else?
I am trying to keep it cheap as possible. But not so cheap to burn stuff up. I will be using the cart for around the house stuff and flat land hunting. Also, is it necessary to replace the controller? I have heard some say its necessary, and others who have not and bragged about their success. Any help is appreciated! |

I've asked this question recently and here's what I was told. You have to upgrade f/r switch, get a 48v solenoid, 48v controller, 48v charger, and at least 4awg cables.

Re: Whats needed for a 36v to 48v conversion
this conversion is entirely dependant on the cart in question.
I recently did a 48 volt conversion on an old Marathon cart that we left the stock controller in place because the old controllers were capable of handling the 48 volts. If you have a newer TXT model, I would definately suggest changing the controller though. You already have the solenoid. You don't have to change out the F&R switch unless you are going to change the controller to a 400 AMP (or more) unit. 48 volt battery charger is a must of course. Batteries are an obvious item your cables should be changed to 4 gauge regardless of whether you are running 36 or 48 volts in my opinion. And don't cheap out on the cables.... get quality multi strand welding wire..... |

Re: Whats needed for a 36v to 48v conversion
I just read your other thread.... from the description you have given, you have a TXT cart and as Scotty said in that thread, you WILL burn up the controller if you put 48 volts to it. unfortunately you are going to have to purchase a controller.

I read the other thread too. That's why I responded the way I did.
