Well first off. Welcome! There is plenty of good info here. Sometimes you have to dig for it though!
The diode should be on the 2 small terminals not the big ones. The bigger studs should have a capacitor , resister whatever you want to call it to help with arcing. |

you said the batteries test good have you load tested them? have you checked all cells to see what SG is? thats what you need to do they can have good voltage but fail under load and what your decribing sounds like batteries dropping under load than you sit they come back and than do it again..................................

cart, look right at the top of this forum and you will see the wiring diagram for your cart. the diode has to go on the small posts, with the band to the pos. side. change this, then take a reading on the large posts. it should be zero if not activated. if after you have moved the diode you get anything other than zero, you have a bad solenoid. check out the wiring diagram.

probably a bad solenoid then. to be sure, pull off the cable on one side of the solenoid to isolate it and check with your ohm meter for any continuity between the two lg. posts. should read zero. i can see how the batts are running down if you are constantlly leaking voltage.
