Default Took balancer out

So i rebuilt my engine because it didnt feel as if it was running that well. When i got it apart i found what running it out of oil did to it. The spot in the block where the balancer goes was messed up but other than that i found nothing else wrong. So i honned it out and i got a new piston and rings. .50 is what its bored. While it was apart i shaved the head .30 thousands. I didnt mess with the valves they were redone last year and shimmed so it woudnt float the vavles as easy. New seals, bearings and all new gaskets. I put it together with out the balancer. While it was apart i tried to put grease in my primary clutch and it wouldnt take grease. I took the grease fitting out and it was all hard. So i took a drill bit and dug it out and at the bottom it was all dark brown. All this time i thought it was getting grease and it wasnt. More to come when i get home.

You will most certainly see more vibrations without the balancer. Good luck with your rebuild.

season is over we finished 2nd over all but we took home all the hardware because we won the championship game. so at the end of the season we got trophies and they got the ribbons. it was an awsome championship game we won 10-8. I feel a little better this year, last year i had the better team and lost it to the same team we beat this year.

i thought this thing would vibrate bad also but it dosent. we took it trail riding on the fourth and it runs great. we have a G16 that runs very very good and when my son was pushing me from behind going up a very steep trail with two of his buddies on it i had to tell him to back off. i have big 22s on it and it will make them bark when im on the black top when i take off. its got the 4 degree timing key in it. i havent put the K/N filter on it yet because i dont know how far to drill the jet out, but soon. next is the cam, i have an extra one so i may send it out and see if that makes any difference also some day. having the head shaved was $30 and all the other stuff i bought new to put back in the engine cost me $113 with shipping. if i could put a big block in and still be able to ride in town without getting in trouble i would but for know im very happy with the power this thing is making. if it brakes i will let you guys know.

Congrats on the season! Bet that makes all the youngens feel good!!

And sounds like maybe the balancer is not critical for it to live! Bet it revs quick!

As far as the jet and K&N, you can start with an .042 drill for the jet. You may end up at .046. But with the compression increase, it may take the .046. Mine is at .042 with (stock motor) the stock filter box gutted (nothing in there but the filter) and the long snorkle has been removed. I'm at 1200 feet elevation. Heck, yours may take an .050 drill!

Anyway, keep us informed, season is over, so expect you to be on here more, and enjoy the rest of the summer!!

well as soon as all-stars is over i will have more time, im the manager of that team also. i will try the .o42 first this next week and see how it gos with the k/n filter. i need to do a compression test on it and see what its at. i have found a carburator that is bigger but the throttle works backwards from the yamaha carb and i need to slot the holes a little more to get it on the studs. once i get that to work will see if the bigger carb helps also. So far i am very happy with the power this thing make for the little of amount of money i have into it.

Angry Re: Took balancer out

Well i took the red cart of mine to texas with us to do some riding with the new engine. So after 1600 miles we arrived there on friday around 6pm. We unloaded the carts my son (15) and my sister headed out of town to where my dad was working. This would be 6 miles out of town and he had the cart at full throttle in 109 deg. weather. So on his way back it died on him, he said it just shut off and in my mind i new what he had done. I went out to get them and when i tried to roll it over it wouldnt move. So after a few choice words with him and him knowing better than to run it wide open for that long he now understands very well. so after being in texas for only 30 min. with the cart i had no motor. lucky for me my father-inlaw went over two the house boxed up my spare engine and shipped it out saturday priority mail and it was in moran tx monday morning. so now my son knows how to pull the engine out and put one back in. i took the engine apart when we got back to new york and he had spun the bearing. as far as running it without the balancer it never bothered the engine. when i find a cheap crank i will put this motor back together the same way.

G9, so you don't think it vibrates to much with out the balancer? I guess time will tell on the longevity. As long as it doesn't look like its trying to tear itself out of there, its probably gonna be ok!
