2010 Electric CLUBCAR 850XRT Hill Climb Ability
Purchasing ClubCar electric 850XRT for use in a private subdivision with paved roads. Very hilly region. Am I buying the right thing to climb the hills? Should I buy gas instead or something else. This is my first golf cart. Electric seems to have come a long way in the past 10 years, but will it be strong enough to pull hills in Missouri. Thanks in advance.

welcome to BGW...............lots of hills? how steep, how long, what kind of inclines, depends but yes you might want to consider a gas cart.....all elec carts slow down on inclines all depends on the grade of it....................

I would say 45 degree climb for 500 feet.
So even the newer electric, so called off-road carts are not as good as they claim?? Thanks for the reply! |

Yeah, I wish I could test drive it in the hills, but where I live has no hills, but at the vacation house there are two major hills, but no golf cart dealers near by:( Thanks again.

Re: 2010 Electric CLUBCAR 850XRT Hill Climb Ability
if your talking major hills i think i would have to lean towards gas..........not that i want to but i also don,t want any problems everytime i have to climb a hill...........not that an elec. won,t make it but its gonna slow down for sure its just the nature of them and its gonna cut into runtime...........last thing would be heat issues??? who knows what climbing a good hill is gonna do as far as heat and thats a bad thing with an elec cart..........................

Isn't a 850 XRT a Yamaha cart?

nope, club car, unless they made one with the same designation years ago.
http://www.clubcar.com/homeowner/uti...es/xrt850.aspx I over estimated my hill slope, probably more around 20 degree. |
