48v Club Car Battery Hydro Test
My daughters 2003 48v IQ Club Car has an on going issue with charger. Charger would not shut off automatically (powerdrive 2). Checked all charger compotents and all were good to go. Next I checked battery pack voltage and all were in the 9.5v - 9.8v range (1 hour after charge). Proceeded with a hydro test and found the following.
Battery #1: Battery #2: Battery #3: 1300 1300 1300 1300 1250 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 Battery #4: Battery #5: Battery #6: 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 1300 1275 1300 1275 1275 Am I safe to say that Battery #2 is bad? Or more? If so, I have always been told that if one battery goes bad you can't just throw a new one in it's place but a good used battery? True? I would appreciate any feed back I can get. Many thanks! |

Re: 48v Club Car Battery Hydro Test
You have posted enough readings for 8 batteries but you list 6?
Readings taken hot off the charger like that should all be at or above 1300. More true readings can be taken 12 hours after the charger has completed it's cycle and auto shut off. |

Re: 48v Club Car Battery Hydro Test
OHhhhhhhhhhh
That explains it. Anything fresh off the charger (1 hour) that varies more than 25 pts SG or a 10th of a volt is going bad. |

Re: 48v Club Car Battery Hydro Test
Thanks Shadowman & Scottyb, I appreciate the input. I re-tested this morning (15 hours after charge) and received the exact findings... #2 has a bad cell. The cart is for my disabled daughter to get around in and she is getting cabin fevor. I have located a good used 8v and will give it a try. Again thanks.

Re: 48v Club Car Battery Hydro Test
I read if the battery has fewer than 50 charging cycles then a new battery is okay. I think it came off the Trojan website, but not sure.
