I just got a 1982 g1, really didnt know what i was getting into untill i tried getting an engine rebuild kit. Kinda of confusing some sites say this kit fits up to a 1981 and other kits say from 1983 and up,why did they do this and where can i find the kit i need, thanks

Re: 1982 g1
The engine could very well have been changed out. One of my G1's is a real mixmaster of parts from several different years. It was like that when I bought it. Someone obviously had several old carts that he put together to make one.
The lower ends are basically the same for all G1's, just the top end is different on 1982 models. Look on the side of the cylinder and see what number is cast into the flange where the cylinder bolts to the crankcase. It should be Jxx-xxxxx. That will tell us what you have. A J17 engine would be from 1982. Here is a 1982 bottom end with a non- 1982 upper: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...e-rebuild.html |

Re: 1982 g1
This is not the original engine for this cart. J10 series was the first of the G1's, so your engine was made somewhere from 1979-81. You shouldn't have any problem getting parts for the engine.
