problem with solenoid on 36v 99ds
Hi everyone, new to the forum and the world of golf carts. I bought my first cart a 99 ds 36 volt. My problem is the cart would not move so following the advice I found on here I think I narrowed it down to the solenoid. I check the old solenoid for cont. on the small post and had none, so I jumped the big post and got movement forward and reverse. I switched the solenoid and put all the wires back like they were no movement. I check the solenoid with multi meter and found both small post are keeping power when the switch is moved to forward or reverse. I dont have any clue where the neg. signal is suppose to come from. I did check the mirco switch on the F&R switch and I am getting 36v on both the yellow and blue wire, is that right? I hope I did not make this to long just wanted to provide as much info as possible. Thanks for all the help.

I dont if this matters or not, but with the key in the off position if you put the cart in reverse the buzzer sounds. This being my first cart I dont know if this is normal, I would think that it would not be. Thanks.

Re: problem with solenoid on 36v 99ds
Your problem is in the solenoid activation circuit.
The small posts are the activation circuit terminals. In order to close the solenoid, positive 36v must present at one post and negative at the other. One polarity will be constant and the other switched. Hope I didn't make this too short ~ lol |

Thanks scottyb, I have been looking at a wiring diagram you provided to someone else. It looks to me that the negative would come from the green wire of the wiper assembly when the peddle is pressed. Is that correct? If so would that point to the micro switch in the assembly? Thanks for the info

Re: problem with solenoid on 36v 99ds
I just got my cart working. I started a small fire with the wires coming from the key switch and reverse buzzer, but I think that helped me find a short in the wiring. I re did all for wires and replaced both the micros in the F&R and the v glide and everything is good. I also bought the service manual, everyone should have one they are priceless. Thanks for the help Scottyb

Heck you did that by yourself
Good work and good advice about the service manual. They are worth their weight in gold. |
