Brake switch questions
Precedent - PQ 0910 - 007489
Factory installed headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, horn and flashers. Pressure switch behind brake pedal rubber pad (103597101 ?). Four, 12V batteries blue wire tap at 24 V. 48V blue tap not connected. How do I know if the cart has a voltage limiter ( 24 to 12 ) or a voltage converter (24/12) ? I think the difference would be the limiter is a 2 wire device and the converter is a 5 wire ( 3 in, 2 out ) device, and would be needed to power all of the factory installed accessories. Different cart - Precedent, probably 2006. Has an MCOR equipped to pedal group. I presume this is a gen II pedal group. It also has a full complement of light/horn, etc accessories probably factory installed. The brake switch is a bit different than any I've seen or read about. Picture attached. I believe it is part # 102517701. It is an inductive slot switch that has 3 input wires ( Brown, Red ( fused ), Black/White ) The switch operates when a metal tab, attached to the brake pedal, slides into the slot. According to the owners manual for '06 I believe the cart has an off delay ( 3 minutes ) built into the switch. The brown wire connects to the red wire via a diode and 500 ohm resistor. The black/white wire connects to the red wire via a diode and approx a 200 ohm (seems to vary) resistor. The brown to black/white wires are open circuit and I presume they should close when the pedal is pressed. I believe the brown wire is the input. I don't have access to the cart right now. Should the input voltage be 12V? Is the switch designed to work when connected to the 3 wires ( red, brown, black/white ) that are in the 09 Precedent? ( connectors might have to be changed ) If so, how would it be wired? The switch does not seem to be operating properly. The brakes light when the pedal depressed, but then stay on for a random time and on occasion stay on for hours. Since the switch costs $150 or so, how do I know that the switch is the problem ( FYI I installed a new brake relay and that is working properly ) |
