yes you need isolate cause you could have 1 bad cell in one battery that effects cart..............have you tried jumping solenoid? even a clicking solenoid can be bad......what color is controller?................................

each battery reads 9.6 - 9.8 volts

yeah, i thought bout after i posted that a shorted cell could cause a bad reading.

nevermind. i found a wire going to the s2 terminal of the motor that just pulled off when i was rechecking everything for security. i will get a new terminal and replace it tomorrow. i thank everyone that replied to the thread and thank you for your help. while we are talking about it...which is the controller? i see a manilla looking part that the gnd side of the battery is connected to. i see a black part that im unsure of what the wires to it lead to in the end.

the part with the cable going to the battery ground is your OBC......................
