Re: Make Your Own HD Cables From Residential Wiring
It occurs to me that if we had said that wire would work great. Sonic would have told us why it wouldn't

Re: Make Your Own HD Cables From Residential Wiring
but 2 or 4 AWG THHN will work fine also.
Until the vibration hardens it and it breaks or twists a post. |

Re: Make Your Own HD Cables From Residential Wiring
OK, I'll play one more time on this subject. All you guys who say that THHN is OK to use in a cart, what cabel/wire is in YOUR CART? That's all I wanna know, no lengthy dissertations, no Ohm's Law quotations.... Just tell me what's in your carts.

So with that theory all the motors in my plant that use #2 or #4 should be stripped out and use automotive wire or some other type wire? lol that's not comparing apples to apples. I just redid my cart and yes I used 1/0 welding cable, because I know it is the BEST as you said earlier. Nobody is saying its not the best. On a side not all of my accessories are wired with #12 and #16 THHN wire. |

Re: Make Your Own HD Cables From Residential Wiring
Thank you, 89GC. That was enlightening. 1/0g welding cable..... Some folks might see that as being overkill, wasteful, unnecessary, yet you chose it for a particular reason. See where this is going?
We are hobbyists. Many of us have "been there and learned that", and we will always recommend the best solution, product, or technique we can. Anything less would not be the BGW way. |

Re: Make Your Own HD Cables From Residential Wiring
G. i,m with you on this it just amazes me how much we debate it but in the end for some reason welding cable always wins.......wonder why..............now all we need is to start the ac motor debate again................................
