This is exactly what I'm wanting to do. I want to cut mine down and replace the hinge so the windshield will fit with a chopped roof

You can use a router to remove the old hinge, if you don't want to cut it

I cut mine ,I put masking tape on the windshield (to prevent chipping)and drew my line on that then cut with fine tooth blade on my skill saw. took a fine hand file and cleaned up the burr.

As mentioned above, a router table, or a table saw with the depth and fence distance set to just barely not dig into the windshield should work. Just "chew" as much of the hinge as possible. You could also use a side angle grinder, but you have to be careful not to dig too deep.

Question Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement

Heavy_D and all repliees,
Great product, but unless I am missing something here, what keeps the top windshield panel in that new hinge (without gluing) when in the lowered open position? Won't the panel weight and the bouncing around while driving eventually work the panel out of the new hinge channel? Just curious before I buy one, Rick

It's meant to be a tight fit, so it won't slide out. Not sure I'd trust it..

Ask the seller what they recommend. Gluing two different plastics together would require the right glue.

Glad to see you found this thread. I was trolling through the EZGO section and read it and immediately remembered your chopped roof vs. windshield issue. Looks like this could make it all work really slick!
