Default I found a Real Nice 97 club cab with new Motor

I have found a nice club car mid 90 with a new none club car motor and it will not run and his mechanic will not call him back-
I like the cart but worried about information on the motor- My Neighbor is a gear head and my cousin is a retired 37 years National guard full time, and he couldn't handle retirement so now he fixes Lawn Mower and riders
He asked me what the motor is and I dont know what to tell him and the guy the owns the cart is definitely not a motor head he just paid someone to put an engine in and the guy said its not club car, but it will work

thanks- I have had electric for years and this will be first time gas, but Brother in laws cant figure out how to charge a cart

thanks for any advise

Looks like a type of Honda clone motor. Look around the crankcase for a stamp plate or engraved numbers.

Depending on price, a new 440 clone from a sponsor is $400 worse case but I think you may have a simple problem.

It is a Honda clone, Looks to be a Durmax 16hp or it might be a Harbor Freight 13hp motor. From the pictures I seen its looks like a pretty good fit on everything. Good luck and hopefully it's a easy fix. Don't be to scared of the clone, for the price of these clone motors there great. Real close to the real Honda, just about 1/3 of the price tag.

Looks like a 16hp Duromax to me also. It's missing the cooling shroud which might be an issue but other than that it's a clean looking installation. Not much to go wrong on those motors other than the pos carb. There is an oil level switch which will kill the engine if the level goes down and also an ignition kill switch. Yours looks to be a key start since I don't see a belt to drive the SG.
Have you checked for fuel delivery and spark ?

Chris.

This cart is going to used in the country. the cart has golf course style tires.
what would be the largest tires I can put on it for some off roading?

do I want larger or more aggressive tread or larger and aggressive tread?

I am thinking about some form of
brush guard and winch ( I have an extra winch in the garage)-

I am thinking about a different rear roof support ( more like roll bar-not for me, but for unique in laws, that could break an anvil)

I would like to put a trailer hitch on it to pull my swisher trail mower

this is pretty cool cart, we paid the same amount for this cart, as we got when I sold our 89 electric ezgo)

I have downloaded the owners manual, who has a good repair manual?

Sounds like you may want to invest in a lift and some 22" tires. The addition diameter of the tires will give a better ride/handling, allow you to roll over/thru things and additional speed. The winch is a good idea, along with the roll cage. The cart should be able to handle the trail mower without an issue with that motor.

Here's the link to the site sponsors to look for lift and tires:
