Default Do I need an HD Forward and Reverse Switch?

When I completed the 48 volt conversion last year I upgraded/replaced the F&R buss bars and studs. All worked fine for quite some time....Until...recently the infamous smell of an electric burn became more and more obvious....Ultimately I lost reverse and decided to breakdown the switch again....buss bars looked great but 2 of the springs had collapsed from (I assume heat).....I replaced all four springs (from Ace Hardware), cleaned up the connections, realigned and reinstalled...Cart goesm fine in F&R but seeing smoke coming from the switch after a good load (i.e. short stomp thru the woods).....The bottom wire is getting super hot...checked and all connections are tight....Starting to think I cheaped out and should have just replaced with an HD switch with the conversion....

Looking for your expert opinion

Questions:

***Why would the springs collapse to begin with?
***Doe's it matter which spring I used to replace--I.e. used some from ACE--same diameter etc...
***Should I just completely replace with an HD Switch? If so...Which (sponsor on this site) vendor carries the best one? I realize it a unique part--89 Marathon

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN BE!
