Default Carb Help...

Well I got my CPP air filter today and its very high quality. Its very strong and looks like its going to be around for a while. My question is once I put it on it hurt the performance some. I dont have the carb jet kit yet and Im wondering about my Carb adjustment. How much tuning do you think it will need to get it running good. Will it still run better than it used to even without the carb jet kit? Its not that slow but its faster with the old filter by a noticeable amount.

Thanks

Your probably running way too lean, when your just sitting there with it close to an idle does it run like ****? Im not really sure about those carbs but i think if you turn the fuel/air mixture screw out a half a turn it should help, if it still is acting up maybe another half turn or untill runs good, but i wouldn't go more than 2 turns without that jet kit.

Yeah its sounds like its running really lean when you drive it. I know ELC had his Plowmans air-box mod without the carb and he said his ran bad too. I just want to make sure that its possible to make it faster without having the carb jet kit along with it. Im going out in about an hour to adjust it and Ill tell yall how it went.

Thanks

If you didn't modify your air box yet, I would pop the tamper cover on the adjustment screw on your carb and open it 1/4 to a 1/2 turn. Make sure your engine is warmed up first. These carbs are very picky. I like to run the screw in the whole way (counting the turns) so I have a return point. Then bring it out 1-1/2 turns and you'll be surprised that will probably be just about right, the 1/4 increments OPEN there after. Easiest with your right knee on the passenger side floor and reach behind the air cleaner with a long flathead screwdriver. I have some pictures for you I will post in my “My Carts” thread.

Thanks so much for the help. I adjusted the carb once when I bought the cart, and it was pretty "fun" breaking all the tamper crap off of it. I know its really hard to get to with the airbox on there. I ended up taking it off and then puting back on to try it.
