Default Question about pre 96 club car primary clutch

Alright hello everybody i am new here. I have a question about primary clutches. So long story short I destroyed my clutch when trying to remove it to replace piston and rings. Purchased a cheap soft puller. From my understanding from other posts I purchased a 97+ clutch due to the fact that they are much more obtainable. So my question is if I swap my starter pulley and run the clutch without changing the chatter springs will be be super noticeable?

You'll be fine. I did the same thing on my 93 carryall. I opened up the original clutch from my 93 and compared it directly to a clutch I pulled off a newer DS and cannot see any discernable difference between the two. theres pictures in a similar thread here somewhere, I deleted them off my phone.

Thanks for the reply! I was just worried about chatter when starting out. Will post back after I get it back together for results

If it's a brand new clutch it should pop apart easy and you can check/flip the chatter spring in like ten seconds.
If you already put the clutch on the engine and tightened the bolt down then you may need to use a puller to remove the cover, but if it's fresh out of the box, give it a tap with a mallet and it will come off.

Also would you happen to know what size tap the clutch hold down bolt into the crank would be. Bolt won’t start by hand and I’m not taking any chances.

3/8-24 thread by 5-1/2" for the clutch bolt. If you replace the bolt make sure the new one is grade 8.

The chatter spring or "take-up" spring as they call it, is more like a tab. It fits under one of the slide buttons. The one that isn't obviously loose has the spring under it.
With the button at 12 o'clock the spring should face in the direction of rotation.
