A little update. I fabbed up new a new battery tray and coated them with epoxy paint. Bolted them in and coated the bolts too. Today I finished up the 5th gear bypass solenoid. I actually took the 5th resistor coil bank out and shifted everything over one as the fiberglass board was burnt out around the first resistor. The modification works great and the cart is noticeably faster, if only slightly. Hopefully this mod will also keep the cart from melting anymore vglides. What I get done tomorrow all depends on the weather. Supposedly a Tropical storm is going to hit us and we are expecting 60+mph winds and rain.

Had you considered scrapping the resistors and v-glide and getting an upgrade kit from ScottyB? It is so well worth it!

I have 4 series carts, 3 will be getting fixed up and sold with minimum money invested. The 4th will be getting lithium batteries, solid state controller, and high speed motor.

Angry Re: Newb with a 1988 Club Car DS

Had a set back this morning. Melted a battery post on 4 of the batteries. Not sure why they melted. Had 4 gauge wire connecting everything. The inner 4 are the ones that melted. Didnt think I was pulling that much amperage! The cart would do 28mph. The end batteries didn't, not sure why they were spared. Well I upgraded everything to 2 gauge and will be keeping a close eye on it. It really sucks that it took out 4 good batteries. I have spares, but they aren't in good shape as far as capacity.

That sucks.

You know that you can repair those melted posts, right? I’ll try to find the thread and link it here...
