I will try these things tonight. What operation will I expect to get if the sensor is going bad?

Just tested cart and found that I have no runaway beep in forward or reverse with the key on the the switch in Forward. It does feel like there is some braking. I also checked the pig tail at the controller and uplugged cleaned with some electronics cleaner and replaced. Same operation, no runaway beep.

Compare the runaway response in run and tow mode (key off). In run, you should get a beep and the cart should resist movement. In tow, it will coast.

I'll give that a try when it stops raining. I did just get on it to give a quick run in the yard and it seemed to want to go to full speed but then quickly slowed down and it seemed like after looking at the back of the cart that the left rear tire had locked up. I did not touch the brakes and have not had any brake problems.

No change when pushing cart with key in off position or with switch in tow mode. No runaway response. Brakes seemed touch due to the wet grass.

On my Yamaha cart that would indicate a failed speed sensor.

I've ordered a speed sensor and will be replacing it tomorrow evening. I'll report back on my findings.

Check the magnet while you are in there.

The speed sensor magnet is often the thing that fails. It can fracture or just become disconnected from the armature.

UPDATE: replaced speed sensor and magnet and cart runs as it should now. Throttle acceleration actually seems smoother. Overall I replaced Solenoid (was bad anyway), Throttle Sensor, Speed Sensor and Speed Sensor Magnet. The magnet appears that it was bad. The washer connected to the magnet was concaved and after examining it a little more the magnet easily separated from the washer. Hope this can help someone else.
