Tip for carb. cleaning
I had to clean a carburator yesterday. I purchased a spray gun cleaning kit. It came with a number of small brushes and probes that were perfect for getting into the small passages after soaking. It worked well and the kit was inexpensive, around $10.

Re: Tip for carb. cleaning
I use the "Macs' "brand carb-cleaner from Napa,Nasty stuff, soak your parts in that for a few hours, works miracles. It comes in a gallon can.It will tear your hands up so use rubber-gloves,trust me i'm not a glove person(at all, even in cold-weather!),i use cleaning chemicals,etc.. daily and this stuff is strong.Another "weapon of choice" is torch-tip cleaners, they work great, and won't hurt the bores of jets and passages.Hope this helps

Re: Tip for carb. cleaning
Find a Zep Products distributor and try their carb cleaning solvent. We use it in our shop, 6 gal bucket with a dipping basket. Oh yea don't put anything plastic in it. LOL it will dissolve anything but metal.
We also use torch tip cleaners for the small passage ways on the carbs. |

Re: Tip for carb. cleaning
A nice "green" solution is to put all your parts into an old pan with a mixture of lemon juice and water, bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Turn the heat off and leave in the pan until it is cool enough to touch. Strange but the citric acid works magic on gas gum.
